| 2026-03-19 12:00:00Z | Mar 19, 2026 | Dr. Michael Baker, Rear Admiral US Navy (Ret) | "The War in Iran: Why Are We There and Who Really Benefits?" | Mar 19, 2026 12:00 PM |
The United States started a war by bombing Iran and assassinating its leadership. Is this war necessary? What is the cost in human life, financial assets, war material, and our deterrence of threats elsewhere in the world while we attack Iran? Dr. Baker will explore what he says are the real reasons for starting this war, who wins, who loses, and who profits the most; he will "follow the money" with film clips and analysis to explain why we are really in Iran and who benefits. He is a retired surgeon who'd served 30 years in uniform and retired from the U.S. Navy with the rank of Rear Admiral having earned numerous awards, including a Combat Action Ribbon and 3 Legion of Merit Awards. Dr. Baker currently teaches history, political science, and military affairs for the Osher Lifelong Learning (OLLI) Programs at UC Berkeley, Dominican University, Cal State University, and CSU Channel Islands.

| 2026-04-02 12:00:00Z | Apr 02, 2026 | Tricia Smith - The Sausalito Village | Service to All Our Older Citizens | Apr 02, 2026 12:00 PM |
The Tricia Smith, one of the original founders and the longtime President of the Age-Friendly Sausalito Village, will be presenting what's been happening, since she'd initially attended one of our meetings back in 2015, when this very needed service was established. So coming up on 11 years since it's CARSS program was founded, Call A Ride for Sausalito Seniors, an all volunteer, local nonprofit organization and which serves all of our elders in town, a lot has been achieved.
In the past and for years, our club partook in their annual Chore Day by helping older citizens around their residences, i.e., by replacing smoke detector batteries, installing smoke and Co2 detectors, flipping their mattresses, moving boxes by getting up on ladders and/or light gardening, whatever they're unable to accomplish by themselves anymore. Hence, for one to Age-in-Place is what this organization is all about. |

| 2026-04-16 12:00:00Z | Apr 16, 2026 | Scott Fletcher, Author | The History of Marin County | Apr 16, 2026 12:00 PM |
"The history of Marin County is intimately connected with the birth and early growth of the state of California. Marin is home to one of the last Spanish missions and the location of the lone battle of the Bear Flag Revolt, which led to California statehood. At that time, Marin was a pastoral paradise that supplied most of the raw materials for the exploding population of Gold Rush Era San Francisco. Fifty years later, its temperate climate and the devastation wrought by the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire brought on a veritable “land rush” to the region." |
